Gracie Kids is our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program for children ages 7 to 12 in Gilbert, AZ, with 45 minute classes four afternoons a week.
Gracie Kids gives ages 7 to 12 a place to earn confidence through authentic Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, learn practical self-defense, and build the focus and resilience that show up at school, at home, and around other kids. Taught by coaches who know your child by name.
This is an age when kids start forming a lasting picture of what they can handle. Our job is to give them difficult, achievable things to do, and enough good coaching to prove to themselves they can keep going.
Gracie Kids hands them nothing. They earn every stripe, and they know it. Not participation trophies, not empty praise, but proof they collected themselves. That proof compounds, stripe by stripe, belt by belt, and it changes how they walk into every room for the rest of their life.
“My son loves jujitsu. We started it when he was in kindergarten to help him with self confidence and respect. When we went to class Coach Quan didn't just teach him jujitsu, he taught him virtues on how to be a good person.”
Authentic Gracie Humaita Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Because it relies on leverage instead of strength, a smaller child can genuinely defend against a bigger, stronger one. That isn't marketing, it's the whole design of the art.
The goal is not to teach your child to fight. It is to help them recognize trouble earlier, speak clearly, set a boundary, get help, leave when they can, and stay composed if someone puts hands on them. If a situation becomes physical, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu gives a smaller child practical ways to protect themselves and regain control without making punching the first answer.
Class demands full attention. Parents and teachers tell us they notice the difference at school. It's not a coincidence, it's a trained skill.
Your child will get stuck. They'll get frustrated. And then they'll figure it out. That loop, repeated, is how you build a kid who doesn't fold when life gets hard.
Respect for coaches, for training partners, and for themselves. It starts on the mat and it doesn't stay there.
Comfortable clothes, no gi, no gear, no experience. We'll take care of everything else.
A coach pairs your child with someone who'll look after them and walks them through the day's technique. Nobody gets thrown in the deep end, and you will know exactly what they worked on before you leave.
That's usually how it goes. Your 14 days for $14 gives them two full weeks to find out.
Two weeks gives your child enough time to settle in, and gives you enough time to see what changes. No pressure, no long-term commitment.
Yes, and that's the point of Jiu-Jitsu specifically. It's built on leverage and technique rather than size and strength, so a smaller child can control a bigger one. It's practical self-defense that does not depend on being the bigger kid.
Kids classes are closely supervised and built around control, not aggression. Bumps happen in any sport, but safety on our mat is non-negotiable.
Perfect. Most of our Gracie Kids start with zero experience. They're taught at their own pace alongside kids who started exactly where they are.
Not for the first classes. Comfortable clothes work. We'll tell you when it's time for a gi and help you get the right one.
Two to three times a week is the sweet spot for real progress at this age. We'll help you find a schedule that works for your family.
Yes. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu uses a belt and stripe system, and promotions here are earned on the mat, never handed out on a schedule.
Tell us privately before class. We can adjust coaching, partner selection, and pace so the first experience builds confidence rather than pressure. We will not promise an outcome, but we will make sure your child is set up to earn one.
Two weeks. Fourteen dollars. Watch them surprise you.
